Mobile identity verification, called bon-in-injeung in Korean, is the step where a website or government service confirms your real identity by tying your name and birthdate to a Korean mobile phone number registered in your own name — simply entering your name and birthday isn't enough on its own, because Korean online systems specifically check that the phone number matches a legitimately registered subscriber.

Fingerprint registration and blood-type checks are unrelated concepts thrown in as decoys — neither is how Korean websites verify a user's identity for sign-ups or logins.

This is exactly why getting an Alien Registration Card and a phone plan registered under your own name early matters so much: without both in place, many everyday sign-ups, package deliveries, and account logins simply won't complete, since the verification step has no valid registered number to check against.
