Climbers train for months and use oxygen tanks just to reach the very top of one giant snowy mountain.

What is the name of the tallest mountain on Earth?

Mount Everest
Mount Everest sits between Nepal and Tibet and rises higher into the sky than any other mountain on Earth.

Mount Everest rises higher above sea level than any other mountain, sitting on the Nepal-Tibet border in the Himalayas. Its extreme height means far less oxygen at the top, so climbers train long and carry oxygen tanks.

Mount Fuji in Japan is famous and beautiful but stands much shorter than Everest. Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa is impressively tall too, but also falls well short of Everest's height.

Some other mountains are actually taller measured from base to peak rather than sea level, showing there's more than one way to define a mountain's size.
