When you're formally employed in Korea, your paycheck automatically deducts the 'four major insurances.' Which is NOT one of them?

Korea's four major social insurances are national pension, health insurance (which includes long-term care insurance), employment insurance, and industrial-accident insurance, all automatically deducted from a formally employed worker's paycheck, with costs generally split between employer and employee except for industrial-accident insurance, which the employer covers entirely. These four programs collectively fund retirement income, medical care, unemployment support, and workplace-injury compensation.

Car insurance is a private product purchased separately by vehicle owners and has nothing to do with employment-based social insurance, which is exactly why it's the item that doesn't belong among the four legally mandated categories.

Because these deductions are automatic and standardized, checking a Korean pay stub is actually a useful way to verify an employer is following the law, since a paycheck missing these standard line items can be a warning sign of informal or non-compliant employment.
