Blow on a fluffy white dandelion ball, and tiny seeds go floating away on the breeze!
Dandelion seeds travel by floating away on the wind, since each tiny seed is attached to a fluffy little parachute-like tuft that catches the breeze and carries it far from the parent plant. This lets a single dandelion scatter its seeds across a wide area without needing any help from animals.
Seeds cannot swim through puddles or hop like frogs, since they have no way to move on their own at all, they rely entirely on outside forces like wind, water currents, or animals brushing against them to travel anywhere.
Because dandelion seeds are so good at riding the wind, a single plant's seeds can sometimes land and sprout many yards, or even farther, from where they first grew.
