Brushing keeps your smile clean and healthy.

Why do we brush our teeth?

To remove germs and bits of food
Brushing wipes away food and germs that could harm your teeth, keeping them strong. Dentists say brushing twice a day keeps your smile healthy for years.

Brushing scrubs away leftover food and a sticky film of bacteria called plaque that builds up on teeth. Left alone, those germs can eat away at teeth and gums, so brushing keeps your mouth healthy.

Brushing doesn't make teeth bigger — they grow and change on their own. It also doesn't change their color; brushing removes stains rather than altering the tooth itself.

Dentists recommend brushing about two minutes, twice a day, since that's how long it takes to clean every surface where germs like to hide.
