Turning carbon dioxide into drinking water isn't a real chemical process this technology performs, CO2 and water are entirely different molecules requiring an unrelated chemical transformation. Cooling the planet by blocking sunlight describes a completely different and far more controversial idea called solar geoengineering, not carbon capture.

Despite growing interest, CCS still captures only a small fraction of global industrial emissions today, since the high cost of building capture equipment and the pipelines needed to transport CO2 underground has limited how widely it's been deployed so far.
