On which continent is the Sahara Desert located?

The Sahara Desert stretches across northern Africa, covering an area almost as big as the entire United States, filled with rolling sand dunes and rocky flatlands.

It isn't in Asia or South America — those continents have their own deserts, but the giant, famous Sahara belongs specifically to Africa.

Even though the Sahara looks empty, it's home to hardy animals like camels and fennec foxes, and to people who have lived there for generations, adapted to its extreme heat and dryness.
