On a windy day you can fly a kite high in the sky.
Wind is just air moving from one place to another. The Sun warms the ground unevenly, so warm air rises in some spots while cooler air rushes in to take its place — that rushing air is the wind you feel push against a kite.
Wind isn't pieces of sky breaking off, and it isn't clouds falling down — the sky doesn't have solid pieces, and clouds are made of tiny water droplets floating, not chunks that fall as wind.
Strong, steady winds are so useful that people build giant windmills called wind turbines to catch that moving air and turn it into electricity for homes.
