Which country has more ancient pyramids than Egypt?

Sudan actually has more ancient pyramids than Egypt, with roughly 200 to 250 known structures compared to Egypt's much smaller count. These were built by the Kushite kingdom of Nubia, a civilization based along the Nile south of Egypt that ruled over its own territory and, for a period, over Egypt itself, adopting and adapting pyramid-building as a royal burial tradition of its own.

Ethiopia and Libya are not known for large-scale pyramid building traditions in the way Sudan and Egypt are, so neither comes close to challenging Egypt's pyramid count, making Sudan the clear and often surprising answer.

Sudanese pyramids tend to be smaller and steeper than Egypt's famous Giza pyramids, and because they sit in a less touristed part of the world, many people are genuinely surprised to learn a country other than Egypt holds the record for sheer number of pyramids.
