Light field displays
Light field displays emit rays in many directions so the eye focuses at true depths, easing the vergence-accommodation conflict that causes VR fatigue. This brings them closer to how we see real objects than standard stereo screens.

Light field displays emit rays traveling in many directions from many points, similar to how light bounces off real objects, rather than one flat image per eye. This lets eyes naturally focus at different depths depending on what part of the scene they view, closely matching real vision instead of a flat picture.

Cathode ray tubes were the bulky old TV and monitor technology, unrelated to simulating depth. Dot matrix printers form images from dots on paper, unrelated to visual depth at all.

Standard 3D and VR displays can cause a mismatch called vergence-accommodation conflict, where eyes converge on one distance while the lens focuses at the screen's fixed distance, widely believed to cause VR eye strain.
