The heart pumps blood, squeezing over and over to push it through a huge network of tubes called blood vessels that reach every part of the body. Blood carries oxygen from the lungs and nutrients from food to hungry cells everywhere, then carries waste back to be removed, which is why the heart never gets to stop working.
Air travels in and out through the lungs, not the heart, and water isn't something the heart circulates on its own, so neither one describes what actually flows through the heart's chambers.
A resting heart beats roughly once every second, adding up to about 100,000 beats in a single day without you ever having to think about it.
