A Stegosaurus walked around with a row of tall, pointy plates sticking straight up along its back, like a spiky dinosaur puzzle piece.
Stegosaurus had a row of large, upright bony plates running along its back, likely used to help regulate its body temperature by absorbing heat in the sun or releasing it in the shade, and possibly also to make the animal look larger or more impressive to rivals or potential mates.
Feathers and a flowing mane are body coverings seen in very different animals, birds and horses respectively, not the bony plate structure found on a Stegosaurus's back, which was made of solid bone embedded in the skin rather than any kind of hair or feather.
Stegosaurus also carried sharp spikes on the end of its tail, nicknamed a 'thagomizer,' which it likely swung at attacking predators for self-defense.
