An owl can spin its head almost all the way around, way farther than you or I ever could, without ever hurting its neck.
An owl can turn its head about 270 degrees, almost all the way around but not a full circle. It does this safely thanks to extra neck bones and special blood vessels that keep blood flowing to its brain even while twisted far.
A person can only turn their head a small amount, and no owl spins a full 360 degrees, since that would be an entire circle rather than the partial turn owls perform.
Owls need this flexibility because their large eyes are fixed and cannot roll around, so turning the head is the only way to see around.
