ITER in France is a much larger project still under construction using magnetically confined plasma rather than lasers, and JET was an earlier European experiment that has since concluded, neither produced these 2025 results.
NIF first achieved ignition in December 2022, and repeating and improving on that throughout 2025 shows fusion research maturing from a one-time proof toward a more reproducible result.
