Entanglement is the link researchers rely on: when two particles become entangled, measuring one instantly reveals something about the state of the other, even far apart, without any signal passing between them in the ordinary sense. A quantum internet would send entangled particle pairs to separate locations, so any eavesdropper intercepting them would disturb the shared state and be detected, forming a basis for tamper-evident communication.
Resonance describes objects vibrating in sync at a shared frequency, and diffraction refers to waves bending around obstacles; neither involves the instantaneous correlation between distant particles that entanglement provides.
Einstein was famously uneasy with entanglement, calling it 'spooky action at a distance,' yet decades of experiments have confirmed the effect is real, even though it cannot send messages faster than light.
